Hello! I am new to ABAQUS and I have trouble to model a simple problem.
I have to model a rail on an elastic foundation with BOEF model: the rail is a beam and is above a series of springs that model the sleepers, ballast, etc.
My model consists in:
- 1 beam of 10 meters (the rail), modeled as a 2D wire
- springs at each 600 mm
- 1 load at the midpoint of the beam
- 2 boundary conditions at the extremity of the beam to fix U1 and U2

I have done the model but it seems that it does not recognize the springs.
I modeled the springs using "connect points to groun (Standard)".

What could be the problem? I attached the cae file. I hope you can see it.
Thank you

In Abaqus/CAE, you can partition the beam and create vertices, and assign the springs at each point.

Or if you are familiar with keywords, can use keywords to define the springs like this:

*Spring, elset=springs
1
2.322e+06
*Element, type=springs
1, Spool-1.5
2, Spool-1.6

Thank you for your help!
I've partitioned the beam in the points in which I want the springs

The problem is that when I want to create the springs (from "Springs/Dashpot") it requires 2 nodes.
I have the nodes in the beam, but how can I create the other nodes (ground nodes?).
