Can any one give me any advice or point me in the direction of a good book. I have a customer that wants to design his system with a one pipe system vs. 2 pipe system.

I'm not clear what you are asking, can you explain a bit more what you need.

Well I have a customer that wants help in choosing between a single pipe system. (The same pipe being used for steam distribution and return. 2 pipe system one pipe is used for Distribution and the other is used for return

Is this for residential building heating? One pipe steam heating systems sort of stopped being installed in the early 1900s. There are still a huge number out there, especially in the US northeast. By the time domestic steam heating systems stopped being installed in new houses in the '40s, they had long since evolved into the two pipe design.

If there was one book I'd get hold of, it would be "The Lost Art Of Steam Heating", by Dan Holohan. You can get it at his web site under the "Books & More" heading. If you have questions regarding this type of heating system, another heading on the same site is "The Wall". It's a bulletin board, and there are some very knowledgeable contractors who have worked extensively with this type of system.
