Problem in changing dimensions.

Initially, the sketch was working fine as I started with a layout. As the file got bigger and arrays were used the sketch stopped taking in dimensions. I could draw a block but cannot change the dimension to my specifications. The size of the file is 1 MB only at this point. It is become a road block for me. I am using Solidworks 2013. I did not sign for the subscription so solidworks folks cannot help me. I will appreciate if anyone has a good solution to this or are aware to this problem please let me know. I have 4G ram and intel core i 5.

What graphics card & driver are you using?

Have you re-started SW or re-booted the computer?

I have rebooted the computer. I did not work. I have Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000.
driver version 9.17.10.3040

I hope this answers. Any additional details i can provide as well.

Thanks

Sorry to say it's probably the Intel HD board. Hopefully you have a desktop and you are able to add an approved card.

Can you roll up the feature tree, save in a rolled up state, zip and attach the file here?

I am trying to do a 2D layout. I do not intend to make it 3D model at all in this . So am I doing something fundamentally wrong using sketch for 2 D layout drawing. the 3D model with assembly, sub-assembly and size will be a different issue I will face.

When I finally show the layout to my contractors it needs to have everything in one sheet(drawing) for their convenience purpose and also detect any interference. Thanks for your input.

I also did show this link of video card requirement to my IT guys previously but no positive solution from them so far(For CorBlimeyLimey)

Anna:
I downloaded the Draftsight. This software is the same as Corel draw. Dessault Systems(french company) must have signed a deal with Corel draw graphics. I have corel draw in my computer. The only drawback I saw with corel draw and draftsight is that SW cannot open this dwg format file. DS could have easily build a patch for it.

For now I will have to use Draftsight or Corel draw for my 2 D layout.

Thanks for all the help.

It is definitely not the same as Corel Draw. It is not in anyway based on the Corel Draw code. Draftsight is based on Graebert’s ARES Platform. Which is an AutoCAD clone.

You will want to use Draftsight if you want true radii and straight lines, etc. Corel does not draw geometrically correct data on screen. Different software for different tasks.

Do yourself a favor and also anyone who needs to work with your file in the future, use Draftsight.

I would like to convert the dwg file in draftsight program to pdf format. Any suggestions. I cannot open the same dwg or dxf file in solidworks. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks

So how about sharing the solution for others with the same problem? That's what these fora are all about.

Very simple when you think of it. There is an option in draft sight where one can export it into pdf. Same goes with corel draw. And that is how I was able to get the pdf output.

I hope this helps others.

Thanks
