What information should be stamped onto a small vessel that does not need a ASME code stamp.

If the customer will not need the stamping even in a small vellel (assuming the vessel is exempted)
yes you can use the name platre as long as the ASME logo or name
and/or the National Board name and/or logo are not there.
actually you can put whatever you want as long as you do not step in the ASME/NB feet.
Some of our customers require us to stamp NON-CODE above the data.

mechmatl,

I would at least mention
- name of manufacturer
- serial n°
- MAWP
- max/min temperature
- corr allowance

One of our customers has a special name plate made up that says "Pipe" with the design conditions on it.

Typical design info on their plate is:

MAWP
Design Temp.
Corr. Allo.
Pipe Spec.

If there is not a pipe spec, they usually have some material data on the plate.

We have also performed calculations on Code stamped pots to "restamp" them as pipe. This is usually done to increase inspection cycle lengths. This is not a Code state (Texas) so I'm not sure what ramifications of declassifing a vessel in some code states would be.
