The Oerlikon SKL gear lapping machine is capable of lapping the spiral bevel gears and hypoid gears up to a gear dia. of approx. 400 mm. The driven gear spindle has some inertia, so I suppose some smaller gear teeth could be shaved off at the start of a cycle. The pinion in question is 25 mm O.D. and the gear is 60 mm O.D. Anyone has any experience with lapping of small gears on such machine?

Hi Spigor
Best bet is try to obtain a manual for this machine.
My instincts tell me this machine might be to large for these gears.
But to know for sure set up the machine
To verify if it can go to these mounting distance.
