SmarTeam Error

I am trying to check a file into SmarTeam, and I am getting an interesting error...

"Error No. 24900 Cannot perform operaion 'Check in'. There is no revision of SolidWorks Drawing '0019933' available for user 'howard'.

There is happening with several files and several users. The file is properly registered in SmarTeam, and we can do a SmarTeam save on it. We have write access to the drawing file and to the model underneath it.

The error happens with files we have just created and registered. We have no problems with files we have checked out.

We are not getting help from SmarTeam. They only support the latest version of their software, and we have not upgraded yet. Our support fee is apparently not much of an investment!

Has anyone here seen this?

We have been using SmarTeam for several years. I have referred your question to our resident expert. He is very knowledgeable on SmarTeam. If he can't help I will ask him to give you a contact SmarTeam inside contact (as opposed to their so-called tech support) who should be able to solve this for you very quickly. I will forward his reply as soon as I get it. (He is out today - it's his birthday!)

3/4 of all the Spam produced goes to Hawaii - shame that's not true of SPAM also.......

Haven't personally seen this one...

An educated guess might be in the particular wording of the error, specifically "... There is no revision... available..."

Is SmarTeam setting the initial revision when a SmarTeam save is initiated (ie, giving revision attribute a value)...

I don't know... One other thought might be to not do a SmarTeam save, but rather go straight to a Check In, then check it back out again...

Looks like you should do some investigating immediately after you do the intial registration of the new file and before you do anything else to see if everything is correct at that point on the profile card, etc.

Also, you say you are "registering" the new files. Exactly how are you doing this?

I will try to get you a knowledgable contact name also, but ours may be a regional guy. Where are you located?

Thank you very much for the inbormaion. We will look at it and see what we can do.

I am in Toronto, Canada. Our rep is EADS, out of Andover MA. I am not the one talking to the rep, so I do not know exactly what the problem is.

No problem. I just talked to JH again today, and he said he has though about it some more and can't think of anything else specifically.

BTW: Our contact is not available to your area.
