What liquids can be made into "snuffing steam? (water, CO2)? Can someone describe a process to make "snuffing steam?" Is it the same process to make steam for heat exchangers?
I'll have to assume you did not read the referenced threads. Snuffing steam is STEAM; it is not water, CO2, or any liquid. Most likely, it comes from a boiler or a waste heat steam generator. It is used to "snuff" or put out an unwanted fire, and it does this by excluding air from the area where the potential fuel is located. (To some degree, it will also carry away heat.) They are frequently used with fired heaters where a combustible process fluid is being heater by radiant heat from a controlled heat release (fire). If the tube carrying the process fluid develops a leak, you have an uncontrolled (and destructive) release of combustible fluid into the flame. Snuffing steam gives you a means of trying to put the fire out, other than simply waiting for all the fuel to be used up.
