Hi guys,

Does anyone a reliable software capable of designing concrete elements (beams, columns, brackets/corbels) according to the Eurocode where I ca enter the actions and it will make the necessary checks ?

thanks a lot

Well, not for Corbels and Brackets. But, RISA-3D does have code checks for concrete beams and columns according to the EuroCode. It's probably not as "tried and tested" as the US or Canadian codes are for RISA. Mostly because we have a smaller user base using the EuroCodes.

I don't know if the other major structural programs do the current EuroCodes or not. But, I'm guessing that Robot does since they've always been a European program that every decade or so will try to make some inroads into the north-american market.

So, if I were to offer any advice it would be to get demo versions of both RISA and Robot and see which ones suit your needs better. RISA's demo can be requested and downloaded from the following webpage:

Not to hijack this thread, but, Josh, does RISA sell a low-priced 2D frame software, or the old version of RISA 2D?

Yes, RISA still sells the RISA-2D program and will continue to do so for the near future. I has most of the same bells and whistles as RISA-3D, just in 2 dimensions instead of 3. Internally, it's just a re-configured version of RISA-3D. So, whenever a RISA-3D release comes out, we will typically follow up with an equivalent RISA-2D release in a few months.

Thanks... I used the first version, the one that drove us nuts with difficulty getting it to print, LOL

The pre-Windows DOS version? Where you used the EGAD to do all the printing. And, where you had to make sure that "Mouse.com" was loaded in the autoexec.bat?

Yeah.... we don't sell THAT version anymore. I have talked about resurrecting a copy on my machine so I can show the other engineers what the program was like back when Bruce and Roger were RISA's only engineers.

That was it - there were a lot of 4-letter words used when trying to print.
