I got my B.Sc. last year and have been working as QC inspector last year, I have good Microsoft office skill, and very preliminary knowledge of AutoCAD, Python, my current job requires field knowledge and rarely requires any computer skill.
but i am not planning to stay in this job for ever.
what software is best for me to start learning, giving me an edge in job market as material engineer?

Unless you want to go into ICME you will not be using much software beyond your current knowledge.
Taking classes in Codes and Standards could be very helpful.
People that understand quality systems are always in demand.
What specialties interest you?

material engineer in what industry?

learn the relevant material and process specifications for your field.
learn how the specifications are created.
learn how materials are qualified
learn how materials are tested; learn the relevant test method standards (ASTM, etc)

the job was at a fabrication facility mostly producing pressure vessels for oil & gas industries, so i have worked with standards regarding the quality check of raw material & pressure vessels, also I have worked with WPS & PQR documents (here welders don't use them so those only have to comply with standard to be provided to our clients).
I think I would resume the way of weld engineering or technical inspection, but I am at the start of my career, so there is no certainty about it, also planning to immigrate to Europe to get my masters and work, wanted to have better chance to find a job in more competitive job market of Europe and learn software to help with material engineering general or weld engineering and technical inspection.
