Hi

I have one question about Soilcrete, to stabilize the ground under some foundations.

Which ground should I use at best for the soilcrete. There grounps from G1 up to G10 which classifie the material. Which one woudl be to recommend?

After the soilcrete will be mixed (concrete mixer) how should we place it? Must it be also placed in layers and compacted?

Thanks for any tip

Regards

Tom

I'm not familiar with your term "soilcrete". If you are referring to soil-cement, then yes, it must be placed in layers and compacted. If you are referrring to Controlled Low Strength Material (CLSM), then no, it can be placed as a "fluid" an allowed to harden.

Also, in either case, a mix design should be done to reflect the needed strength of the material.

Soilcrete is normaly a sand soil classify to SM or SW with addition of 3-4% of cement depending on the strength you are looking for. This is done in Soil Laboratory where the mix design is carried out and the mixture is compacted in a mould at specify AASHTO density and tested for UCS. During construction you mix materials on site at optimum moisture content specified and placed in layers of 150mm compacted at specified Mod AASHTO density which normally ranges from 90-95% depending on the purpose of the fill. Field control tests for compaction is requred during construction.
