This is the "standard" screen setup after the headworks in municipal wwtp:
bar screen -> washing press -> solids fall into open container, to be disposed.
Often the pipe of the washing press is equipped with a bagging device (endless plasitc hose wrapped around the end), however I hear from operators that since this doesn't really work: The bagging device is about 3m above ground to allow for the dumpster, after this height any pice of solids will pull a batch of the endless hose with it.
The bagging device is redundant, for when no dumpster is available.
My questions are:
Is there a way to not have an open container and have the system more encapsulated (it will of course depend on the type of container used by the respective disposal company)?
Are there alternatives to the bagging system that work for the described situation?
I recently brainstormed solutions with an operator and a contractor, we came up with a movable chute (to slow the solids) and a bagging device, that the operators could move under the funnel when no dumpster is availabe. But to our knowledge such a system is not available on the market.
