We have been analysing a conveyor gantry which has been subject to foundation settlement. We have used Spacegass to model the distortion of the truss frame and want to export the data for use in another CAD program for designing modifications for correcting conveyor tracking. So far we have only managed to export the input model.

Is it possible to export the deflected model from Spacegass, ideally to a DXF file?

I would probably export the model including analysis results to an .xls document and copy the 'NODES' sheet to say 'NODES OLD". Then using sheet 'NODES', add the deflections for the particular load case you are interested in to the initial node locations in 'NODES OLD', load back into Space Gass then export as dxf.

Of course this is a somewhat messy work around. If I had to do this more than a few times I would use VBA to create the dxf file directly (or better yet write a Python script). If you get stuck let me know and I might be able to help with writing a small utility.

Thanks for the reply, it partially worked but we managed to use your concept to achieve what we wanted.
When re-importing the model from .xls, only the nodes were added. After using the exported .xls and modifying the node coordinates as you suggested, importing just the new nodes, overwriting the datasheet from the existing model worked.
This was for a single model with a few thousand members

Glad to hear you got the result you were looking for Thomas. Not sure why XLS import didn't work in your case, I have never had any problems with it in the past but I know the guys at Space Gass have been getting a few little teething problems with V12 so maybe its a bug.
