Are there any issues for using spiral seam pipe instead of longitudnal seam pipe for cooling water service at normal temperature and 60 psig pressure.

Thanks

We have been installing spiral seam pipe for water and sewage for 10 bar pressure for many years and up to 2m diameter.

The main issue is that spiral seam is a lot cheaper!

In the early days spiral wound was not so good, but it is now.

Is spiral wound good for process fluids. The plant on which I am working is having Nicle Carbonate and this plant used to use Stainless Spiral wound pipe, but there is a drive to use seamless pipe because of corrosion attack on weld. The pressure is low and temperature is around 90 deg C.

The main problem with spiral wound is corrosion at the welds.

I guess, if it is a cooling water line, there should be no problem.

Thanks guys for letting me decidein favor of spiral seam
