HI,

How to calculate the straps required?

I trying to find the number of straps required for Rebar bundles(circular) ,which changes in length with a standard 2 T weight.

the strap strength is 22 KN -notching or clamping strength is 70 to 80% of the designed strap strength i.e..17.2 ~18.4 KN.

Ex: for a 2T bundle which is 18M in length-how many straps does it need for safe handling.

2 T weight?

Is that 2 tons weight? (Metric, standard, US?)

Are you asking about the straps for lifting for construction/installation?

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

KootK: A fabulous thread... one of the best on Eng-Tips. This dialog is what I consider as real engineering. Sorry I missed it completely.
