Is there a commonly accepted method for sizing DIN splines? Or are there any published stress concentration factors? The spline I have in mind is W140x5x26x8f.
I have copies of standard design procedures and stress factors for "American" splines (AGMA, ANSI, etc...)such as given in the Machinery's Handbook, but not for DIN splines.
Applying the Mach. Handbook methods to this DIN spline seems to give results that are too conservative -- expecially when contrasted with the torque rating of the mating gearbox.
