Hi,

May I ask to experts in post-tension works regarding quality assurance.
There is a situation in our project that I require the contractor to provide me a stressing report of stressing external tendons. And they replied that stressing report not applicable for external PT.

Can anyone please enlighten me on necessity of stressing report if it's not really required on external tendons stressing work?

External or internal, PT design is entirely based on the assumed (calculated/designed) force in the cables. The EOR must know whether the cables have been stressed properly, and that can only be known by reviewing the stressing/elongation report. Surely the PT supplier will also need to review the stressing log.

I'd probably push back and require the elongation report, and further I might suggest that the contractor provide code language that defends their position.

I assume this is in connection with your earlier post thread507-470830. If you are encasing the tendons with concrete or mortar, they are not external. If you are not encasing the tendons, how are you planning to anchor them?

Thank you for your response.
In fact, stressing report is required for project record.

Encasement or covering of the tendons with suitable mortar will be done only after the stressing is done, for protection and for fireproofing purposes.
Tendons are laid crossing in existing slab with around half laid on top and the other half laid under or soffit of slab. At both ends concrete of small area only was cut and demolished as pan box without cutting any existing reinforcement. Making one end as dead end and the other as live end. This system and procedure are as per the PT specialist designer/contractor.
