Hello guys,

I am here as an younger brother and a mechanical engineer working for petrolium and chemical plant in korea.
I am just reviewing and studying P&ID of the chilled water package that other senior engineer is working.

FYI
The compressor's rated cooling capacity : 4,700 kW
- The motor power condition : 1,400 kW , 4,160 V, 60 Hz
The capacity of the package(evaporator) : 4,000,000 MMkcal/hr

I have known that there are rare equipment in the bigger package than ones in general.
In this case of the chilled water package, it seems like big one.

I have question about what oil rectifier and super heater works for this package.
Could you explain in detail? big brothers^^

Thank you
Best regards,

# Is the oil seperator on the downstream of the compressor not enough for separating oil from the refrigerant ?

How is anyone supposed to guess without seeing the P & ID?

That's a pretty meaty sized Chiller unit alright.

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Rectifier may be the refrigerant - lube oil separator for the screw compressor unit.
Superheater may be to superheat dewpoint feed gas (derived from evaporator) to the compressor so that it is some safe distance away from dewpoint conditions. It may be getting its superheat from the hot compressor discharge high pressure refrigerant gas.
