I need to finalize the paint area for my unit rate contract of pipe spool fabrication, so can can somebody can help me with a reference table for the surface area of Butt weld pipe fittings such as elbows, tee, reducers, flange,

Did you mean +10% of theoretical surface area? can you help with a reference chart with surface area of all fittings?

No. Just add 10% to your length of straight pipe.
We don't even count individual tees and elbows until they get ordered off of an MTO for construction. I think just to account for paint, a simple % adder should suit your purpose. You could vary the percentage if you have more fittings. Anyway, my preference would be to handle such things with a simple percent adder of one kind or another. Maybe you think differently.

Fitting surface area is just that of a cylinder, length x circumference more or less. Just decide how long they are and make a spreadsheet to do the math and add them all up.

the 10% consideration shall be good for lumpsum pricing but here I need to submit surface area details for an unit rate contract of pipe spool painting. Since all these Butt weld pipe fittings are covered under ASME B16.9, I believe there must be standard values.

Other than someone painting it no one else cares about surface area AFAIK.

I'm sure someone created a spreadsheet somewhere but I've never seen a table of it.

An elbow will be the same as the chord length of straight pipe at the bend radius mid axis. That length is in B16.5 I think.

A tee is probably 10% more than straight pipe

A flange I guess 30% more than the normal pipe, maybe 40%?

Just make some estimates and go with it. Most of the areas should be straight pipe no? So it won't kill you if you're a little bit out.

I understand you're only responding to an ITT, but someone is going way too complex here. Must have been a QS who put it together....

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Even better! But is surface area the only issue. Is the a time or complexity component?

It is not for an ITT, for a new job awarded with unit rate contract for welding and painting. Hence I need to submit details for the weld inch dia. and surface area painted to claim my invoice value. So I'm trying to find precise values for the Butt weld fittings.

Which is going to cost more? Overbuying by 10% or delaying the project when you don't have enough paint?
