I just created a simple swept protrusion in ST2 sync mode - a circle along a U-shaped path.

It's impossible to modify, even the diameter cannot be changed.
All I seem able to do is move the whole thing.

Is this still the case in ST3?
If so, what is the point of the sweep command in sync mode?

Where would we be without sat-nav?

You can change the diameter by just clicking on one of the cylinders in you "U", click the cylinder and you will see a callout with the value of the diameter, click the callout and edit the value.

You should also check out live sections, this was a great improvement of the synchronous work flow in ST2, especially for dimensioning parts with cylindrical cross sections.

I would still prefer to do this in the traditional mode though, since my brain is still struggling to understand why live rules hate me =)

Thanks, I'll give that a try when I get back to work next week.
It all still seems too complicated to me.

There is nothing to change the diameter.
I have tried it as a normal U shape and also a flat-bottomed u-shape but can't do anything other than move it or stretch the height of one or both legs.
I've been doing some handrails for a machine than are made from pipe and we model them as sweeps and protrusions.
Pipe is about 40 diameter and has 100mm rad bends at the corners.
I just wanted to see if it was possible to model and modify them in sync mode.
Obviously not.

Thanks for that Raaden, but it isn't like that on ST2.

Have you tried Live Sections, did it help you out?

Beach, I wonder if this is a case where ST3 will help you out as it allows hybrid and doesn't automatically get rid of sketches as I understand it?

Strangely I did this again in a new file and I can get the diameter to change as Raaden describes.
Unfortunately its still not possible to do this simple exercise in Sync ST2.

I've attached the sort of thing I'm trying to do, bearing in mind this is just an exercise.
What I want is to change the distance between the two uprights, height, diameter and corner bend radius.
ST3 is not an option yet - and may never be - but I think you are correct that this has to be done in traditional mode.
I just don't see why sync should not be able to do it.

That was a really frustrating part, impossible to do anything with it even with ST3. Pretty amazing that such a simple part can be so problematic.

I deleted your swept protrusion and restored the sketches and did a new swept protrusion in ST3 and this is what I could do then:

It seams that swept features has gotten a lot more intelligence in ST3, which is good. Too bad that you are stuck in ST2.
