Hi

I've read here:
that
"A body can now be created by sweeping a tool body, locked in a defined orientation, along a 3D path".

What version of NX support it?
And where can I find that option?

As far as I've seen in NX8.5 and NX9 the sweep option doesn't accept solid bodies but sketches.

regards

Yes, these are the types of parts that we are testing with the proposed NX 10.0 functionality.

How do we get access to the "prototype" for testing ? Is it an environment variable ?

NX 6.0.5.3
NX 9.0.1.3
Windows 7 64

There is no longer anything there to test. It was disabled in the production release of NX 9.0.

Hi John,

I was wondering if NX CAM 10 will implement B-rep Stock Update so we can output the cut part to Parasolid model and not tessellated STL model with the above enhancement?

Example of CAM program that support B-rep stock is Pro/NC from PTC and Topsolid from Missler.

Thanks.

Someone in the CAM group will have to comment on that, perhaps Mark Rief.

There has been no announcement of this for NX 10.

The internal In Process Workpiece (IPW) representation can be used as is for tool path generation, verification, and simulation. It can also be saved as an NX facet body. What are you looking to do with the stock model that you can not do with a facet body?

We are familiar with "subtracting" the tool path motions to make a real solid. This may work for prismatic parts, but has many issues as the parts become more complex or contoured. Imagine subtracting a contour milling tool path with 500,000 linear moves... It is like 500,000 boolean subtracts.
