Is there an industry standard/accepted symbol (like a welding symbol) or something to indicate on a drawing places to apply standard tin/lead solder on thru hole components? Just working on some assembly drawings and wanted to indicate all points where solder must be applied..
Thanks

I was reading the notes on welding in Global DRM and it briefly mentioned soldering.

I believe it is covered by the AWS standards, probably 2.4.

look in the content of section 8.

It might be covered as a type of brazing, I don't know for sure.
KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

I saw that table of contents but don't have access to any of those welding standards as we don't do/spec any welding at my facility.
I figured though that it really wasn't talking about the same type of "soldering" as electrical component thru hole soldering so I figured it wouldn't apply.

Any other ideas? I might just pick a symbol and add that to our own internal rules/standards.

You might also look in the IPC standards to see what you can find.

Yes I have already emailed IPC to see if they have a standard that might reference that (no response yet).. Thanks
