system powered steam condensate pump

I have a steam powered (45psi) condensate pump. It pumps condensate return from a steam coil that is fed with 13 psi steam. Is a vent required on the spirax sarco pump that we have, and if so what size is the vent required.
We are installing 2". The coil is rated at 1300mbh.

You have to vent the steam from body at the end of the pump cycle. If this isn't done, the pressure in the pump body will prevent more condensate from entering. I'd check with Spirax Sarco or their local rep to get the specific installation instructions for your unit.

Note: not only must the pump be vented but, most of the time depending on your exact piping layout, the condensate entering the pump must be vented. The Vent on the pump body has a very small orifice, designed to vent the pump of the motive force steam. It is often not big enough to vent any flash steam from the incoming condensate. If this is not vented seperately, like in a reciever or holding 'pipe', the pump could get vapor bound.
