Hi every one,

I am involved in rectangular wastewater concrete tanks design ( Sometimes multicells) and I need to know requirements for the vertical joints for long wall tanks and is there any specific distance from the tanks corners or walls intersections and the maximum distance between the control joints. Is any distance requirement and if there is minimum tank size required ?

Thank you

Refer to ACI 350 section 7.12.2.1

Bump up horizontal steel to the max and avoid joints.
Contractor will need to use construction joints in long walls, try to locate near inflection points for horizontal bending and avoid putting them in corners where horizontal bending is usually the max.

For wastewater tanks will "self heal" if you keep cracks small and distributed. High steel percentages per ACI 350 encourage that.

Hope that helps.
