Temperature Correction factor for ASME Section 1 Safety valve from Fukui Manufacturer. 1

We have one ASME Section 1 Safety valve from Fukui Manufacturer, set pressure is 45 kg/cm2g. We are testing this PSV in Air test stand. Do we need to apply temperature correction factor for this valve to get the CDTP. Operating temperature is 370 °C.

Valve Model: SL431-C2-M2(T)

SL series safety valve having a yoke and spring installed inside the yoke structure, which provides efficient air cooling.

Can you pls confirm, whether this open bonnet PSV set pressure and CDTP is same?

An ASME I Safety Valve should be set on steam., and no temperature correction is made for the set pressure when the test is on steam (setting should also be on the valve nameplate). In recent tears ASME has relaxed testing requirements due to not everybody having a steam plant to test safety valves on. In such cases the manufacturer needs to advise the user for testing on media other than steam. There are also potentially different ring settings for testing on media such as air or nitrogen rather than steam, mainly due to prevent damage to seating during workshop test. The rings should be returned to normal steam positions after setting. The ring settings should be available on a nameplate on the valve. Typically, there is no temperature corrections factors where the safety valve is an open bonnet design, but this may also vary by manufacturer

If you provided the manufacturer with the operating temperature (370C) on you spec sheet (and I assume you did), then the manufacturer would have provided the CDTP. The CDTP is generally stamped on the nameplate.

If you don't have a CDPT then contact Fukui for that value.
