Currently I am needing mechanical properties of a 2-ply laminate thermoset phenolic resin reinforced with cotton linen (long fibers). The bottom ply is 90 deg, the top ply is 45 deg with respect to the bottom creating a quasi-isotropic material fiber structure pattern. First, is it suitable to assume the material to be isotropic? I would like to model the material in Ansys; but the properties are needed for analysis. In order to get true stress, strain, Young's Modulous, and Poisson's Ratio, would I need to do a dogbone tensile test with strain gages?
I've looked in the for info and could not find anything useful. Where to look?, How to model the material?
