Hi

Please advise where I can enquire about a thread rolling machine to produce aprox. 700mm long OD 38mm (tube ID 24mm)standard Acme type of threaded rods - Material standard mild steel - we need to produce 50000 rods per year. The rods are used as part of Base Jacks in the construction building industry. Locally (South Africa) nobody seems to be interested to help.

Thanx for any leads!

My guess would be that thread-rolling loads would be too high for that thickness mild steel tube. Most of the building-jack threads I have seen have been cut, not rolled.

Hi Yates

I actually have an imported rolled (from Germany) sample in my office. One local guy produce a similar threaded tube from 5mm wall thickness tube. Unfortunately he is not interested in my requirement.

The engine is a v8, driving a 2 inch diameter drive shaft that is coupled to the flywheel. There are two pillow block bearings along its path. Two separate sheaves: One with 4:1 ratio and one with 2:1. The acessories are turning faster than the driveshaft.

Thanks for the help.
