I don't think Mcmaster has UNJ series threaded rod, and the UNF stuff they do stock may not mate properly with the female UNJF parts I assume you have. I don't know of anybody sourcing even studs with the UNJ threads, but you may be able to find something like an aero rod end bearing or cable swage fitting and cut off the threaded end. Else find a shop to cut one or roll one for you custom - but do you REALLY need a continuous thread 3' long? That will be tough to source, and probably precludes thread rolling. Good luck

thanks btrueblood,
i don't need a continuous thread but at least 2" thread on each end. i found a shop near me that could do it but expensive for this type of thread.

Yes, it's expensive because they have to have new, sharp tools to cut the thread and ensure the root radius is maintained per the standard.

Sorry, didn't notice the 'j'.

phxllip...

UNJF implies a sophisticated strength requirement. Do You need any of the following?

Rolled threads... or are cut threads OK (flight critical [fatigue] VS non-critical [static]?).

RH turn thru the length... or LH turn one end; RH turn opp end?

Alloy/strength? Carbon steel, LA steel, CRES? 95, 125, 140, 160, 180, etc -KSI?

Min weight design required? IE enlarged threads with a smaller diameter straight section blended-in-between?

Examples of what is available for aircraft [UNF not UNJF]

AN704 Tie-Rod Internal 3,400Lb (1/4-28)

NAS1454 Rod, Continuous Thread

Perhaps this concept would work better...

NAS363--369 Control Rod and Tube Assy 1/4-28UNF-3A Thread

Otherwise, You may be better-off designing what You need
