I have an idea of what I want to do.

Keyed collar, insert partially threated rod, use threated ring attached to collar to adjust the rod's height. Use set screws to lock rod in. I'm going to keep the clearance between the collar and rod close to avoid play.

Now to my question. What is the best way to attach the threated ring to the collar? The rod and collar are both going to be Aluminum.

Thanks,
Ricardo

Is the part holding the load in one direction constantly? Then you dont need to worry gravity will take care of you.

If that doesnt work then youve got to cut a channel in the ring. A matching c-bore in the collar (deep enough so that the channel fits all the way in. Then put set screws to lock into the channel.

Be sure to use a good quality anti-sieze on all the mating components.

NickE,

Thanks for the quick response. The load on the part is negligible so the idea of the channels looks good.

Thanks again,
Ricardo
