Hi all,

I'm trying to make a Through curve mesh feature about 5 profiles. Is there any way that the start point of individual sections can be changed? I know there is the By points option, but the command will be much useful if the start point of curves can be changed.

Thx in advance

Hi,
could you please send us an image of the profiles if possible? If your profile consists of a number of curves then you can do a SINGLE SELECTION to select that entity first through which you wish to control the origin. For instance if it is a rectangle then you can fiddle with the origin by selecting these lines selectively. But still i donot wish to generalize my statement untill and unless i catch a glimpse of your profiles [bigsmile].
Thanks and Best Regards

I think it is not possible to change the start points of curves in Thru mesh feature..[ponder] should have this option in future releases.

Anyway thanks for ur reply.

It would help if you mentioned what version of NX you are using.
It would help further if you uploaded an example, either picture or model.
Getting the start curve/ position correct is in most cases a matter of selecting the curves consistently.
There is in NX 7.5 an option to re-define the starting curve in a selected string, depending on the topology of the string, - Open or closed.
See attached image. I do not remember when it was implemented.

Tomas

My thoughts are pretty much in line with what has been stated already - .prt files or images are always going to help us help you quickly. The version of NX is almsot a must this day and age. In regards to selecting strings (curves) for a Through Curves (TC) or Through Curve Mesh (TCM) or just about any sting-related operation in NX, the start point (end) will be determined by the closest end of which you initially select and has been indicated by an arrow appearing after the selection is made. The meanings of these arrows will come into play more often when dealing with lofted (TC) bodies, as they will give you the ability to predict the orientation of the sections between each of the sections (more easily described as twisting). I feel it is in your best interest to select the curves in the same general locations (near one end or the other) so that all the arrows are appearing in the same direction.

In addition to Toost's comments about redefining starting curves, you always have the option (in all versions of NX that I've used) to Deselect (Shift + Select or MB1) a string or strings from the set and either reorder their selection or even add new strings to the set. It's easier to do so with the re-vamped TC and TCM commands (since at least NX4-5).
