Hi
My company was asked to perform non-linear load analysis for transmission pole.
Does anyone know of any program that could handle this type of analysis?

Thanks

Might also refer to lateral load analysis. Try lateral foundation program by soil structure.

MStower.....But i have made some spread sheets personally. You can contact with me. upalbond@yahoo.com

Tower Numerics (formerly RISATower).... though it is geared more towards communications towers than transmission towers.

BTW: The non-linearity probably refers to two things. 1) The geometric non-linearity (i.e. P-Delta) of the pole itself. 2) Non-linear cable behavior if it is a guyed pole.

Most analysis programs these days can handle item #1. Not as many will do item #2.

Check with the utility pole suppliers, too... they often use very high flexural strengths... in excess of 5000 or 6000 psi for fb.

pls pole is what you need. the same developer of pls cadd. you also need asce 48 and nesc

definelty PLSPOLE.It also allows you to import the actual loads from PLSCADD

Thank you for the input.

Looks like the plspole will work for me. Mainly we will be designing wood poles, that that program implements requirements of ANSI 05.1
I’m not that familiar with ANSI 05.1, so is there any major difference between 2002 and 2008 version? Plspole checks ANSi05.1-2002 edition.
