Hi,
I am modelling the stiffness of shell elements using the General Shell Stiffness section. Here I also assign values for the transverse shear stiffness. When I submit the job, I receive the following error:

Error in job TransverseShearTest: in keyword *TRANSVERSESHEAR, file "TransverseShearTest.inp", line 861: The keyword is misplaced. It can be suboption for the following keyword(s)/level(s): material

The relevant section of my input file looks like this:
** Section: Section-1
*Shell General Section, elset=Set-1
5e+09, 9e+08, 3e+09, 0., 0., 1e+09, 4.6e+08, 120000.
0., 1.2e+08, 4000., 16000., 0., 16000., 57000., 0.
0., 0., 0., 0., 2.8e+06,
*Transverse Shear
9e+08, 7e+08, 0.

I am only working in the GUI, so the inp file is generated by Abaqus, but somehow it does not work. Any advice?

It seems like the correct keyword is *Transverse Shear Stiffness. I can manually add "Stiffness" to the input file every time using the Keyword editor, but it does not seem logical that Abaqus creates this keyword that it does not recognize later on. Can I avoid this, ensuring it automatically uses the correct keyword?

*Transverse Shear keyword is used to define the elastic transverse shear moduli for material (used in shells and beams). It’s not supported by CAE.

*Transverse Shear Stiffness keyword is used to specify values of transverse shear stiffness for shell, beam or cohesive section. It will be generated in CAE when you specify values of Transverse Shear Stiffness in section definition.

Which version of Abaqus do you use ?

Thanks for your reply, this makes sense. Strange that my CAE does not generate the correct keyword then.
I am using 2019 version.

Do you have any fix packs (updates) installed ? In fact the *Transverse Shear keyword (the one for defining transverse shear moduli) was introduced in 2019 release. What’s more, from what I’ve found, this is a known issue and it should be fixed in FP.CFA.1914. Download this fix pack or, even better, install all updates for 2019 release.
