Hello,

I encountered an error like this:

460 elements are missing required transverse shear stiffnesses. You may use the *TRANSVERSE SHEAR STIFFNESS option under the *SHELL SECTION option to directly specify their values, or use the *TRANSVERSE SHEAR option under the *MATERIAL option to specify elastic transverse shear moduli for Abaqus to compute the transverse shear stiffnesses.

Abaqus/Explicit Packager exited with an error - Please see the status file for possible error messages if the file exists.

The properties I gave are density, viscosity, elasticity, and eos. This transverse shear option needed seems that it has connection with explicit mode? So if I use explicit solver, I need to give this transverse shear stiffness value? Do I understand it correctly?

Thanks in advance!

Did you use Elastic, Type: Shear as we discussed in previous thread ? Transverse shear stiffness is required in the element formulation. Usually Abaqus calculates it automatically but in some cases shear moduli can’t be estimated in preprocessing. In such situations transverse shear stiffness has to be defined manually.

Yes, I gave it Shear type, just want to confirm that I need to define transverse shear stiffness in section editing~ Also, I am wondering when transverse shear stiffness is needed, because even if I do not give elastic values, it is still required.

I got lost again, where can I define transverse shear stiffness?
I am modeling a sphere shell being pinched by two solid plates, it has density, viscosity, shear elasticity, and eos parameters. It warned that the sphere elements need transverse shear stiffness, I remembered that I found it in element type in mesh menue before, I cannot find it this time...

It can be specified in the shell section definition window in CAE (Advanced tab).
