Tree stump grinder has extreme creep on slopes

Hi,

After having replaced forward and reverse counterbalance cartridges, a drive motor, a free wheel, bypass globe valve, I am still stuck with the same issue and I am at my wits end. The only thing left to change is the manual bank valve motor control section, which is problematic owing to the age of the stump grinder (1997). I also need full engine rpm to climb back up ramps into my van, when it use to climb on tick over. All other ram circuits operate normally and system pressure is max. at 142 bar (2000 psi). The valve motor work section is non standard made by Prince inc. for J.P. Carlton co. and is not available.

Anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions please?

You haven't mentioned the pump. How do you know that is in good order?

Yes the other parts may work at 142 BAR, but that may not be enough to drive the motor.

You mention having to run the engine at high idle to climb a gradient when you used to be able to do so at low idle. That sounds like your pump is very inefficient and you are having to increase the revs to get enough flow to generate the sufficient pressure.

If the drive system demands high flow from a pump that is very leaky and inefficient, then the system will be slow. The other parts of the system that do see the correct pressure may well be more constricted and so the pump will be able to keep the pressure up.

What sort of pump is it?
