Hello,

Can I specify a true position on a cone relative to another diameter?

Imnotfrommars,
Yes, if you are using ISO, per Georg Henzold's: "Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing for Design, Manufacturing and Inspection" Fig.20.127 he does just that, using coaxiality (concentricity symbol) in combination with profile. The illustration does not show it with an MMC modifier but in his table on the use of modifiers 9 (table 9.1) would allow it.
Using ASME, I believe yes, also by using a combination of profile and position as described in the standard for use with profile but it may not be specifically illustrated with a cone in "the book".

J-P,
Thanks, I agree with your assessment of the possibilities of a profile-position as a current solution now offered under ASME. Unfortunately at my company we still use 1982 and there are some who are not too sure about composite profile since it was not "in the book" at the time. Most of them believe me now anyway and as long as I have you guys for advise I am OK.
