Hello all,

I am trying to simulate the free vibration mode of a sphere shell with thickness, but as long as I gave the sphere viscosity property, it let me give eos data as well. But with both parameters given, there is also an error pops up:

THE *VISCOSITY OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR Abaqus/Standard
THE *EOS OPTION IS AVAILABLE FOR Abaqus/Explicit ONLY
The options *eos and *elastic are mutually exclusive other than for the case *elastic, type=shear
Analysis Input File Processor exited with an error.

Does anyone know what does this mean and how to solve it?

I also attached my simulation file here. Hope someone can help me~

Many thanks in advance!!

These messages highlight the limitations of Abaqus in this matter. Shear viscosity of the material and equation of state can be defined only for Abaqus/Explicit analyses. What’s more, when EOS is used you have to choose Elastic, Type: Shear.

Sorry, I am still not quite familiar to this software. So how to use this Abaqus/Explicit mode? Thanks!

Abaqus has two main solvers - Standard (implicit time integration) and Explicit (explicit time integration). The choice is made by selecting proper analysis step. To run an analysis with explicit solver choose Dynamic, Explicit step.
