Two quick suggestions:

I would get my hands on Butler’s Foundations manual. It has a section that covers the design of the tuned edge slabs. The turned edge is basically a beam on elastic foundations.

2. See chapter three (3) of the DESIGN: CONCRETE FLOOR SLABS ON GRADE SUBJECTED TO HEAVY LOADS (UFC 3-320-06FA 1 MARCH 2005) at this link:

Where can I get a copy of Butler's Foundation manual?

You may contact Butler Buildings. I have a copy of it in my library. Let me know if you cannot get a copy from them.

One of the authors is Dr. Jim Fisher. It is a n excellent dissertation on PEMB foundation system.

Lutfi - I tried some time back to get a copy of the Butler Foundation Manual to no avail. I emailed and telephoned them with neither method getting results (or the book either). The local Butler representative is not an option open to me (they don't like engineers - go figure). I'll pay if you have another source in mind. Let me know & I'll send contact info.

Contact John Flowers at Butler Mfg. Co. office at 400 N. Weaber Street, Annville, PA 17003. He reported as of today that the Foundation Design manual is still available for $15. (I want a copy of it too.). Contact him for details. Regards
