Looking for installation of batteries in industries for UPS application and in electrical substation for back up power. Would like to know what types of batteries are installed / recommended to use in industrial UPS application and in electrical substation back up control power. What is the % of installation of each battery type. Any statistics for battery installation world wide would be highly appreciated. Please provide citable references for the data provided.

We use VRLA banks for 125 V protection in substations, typically either Exide Absolyte GP or Enersys SuperSafe TM.

100% flooded lead acid at my utility (medium sized US utility, about 1.2 million customers) for substation and generation control and relay systems. Require maintenance, but highly reliable, we had bad experiences with VRLA in the past (battery failure caused a coastdown without lube oil on a steam turbine)
I’m guessing flooded lead acid will be the most common in the US. I’d recommend contacting battery manufacturers for worldwide adoption.
