I would like some suggestions of how to generate a single pulse for a 40kHz ultrasonic transducer. I would like it to be 150V for 80us to 100us. I have the 150V supply available.

There is a module by Massa that can do this, but they are very difficult to work with to get the basic circuit for this function.

I suspect that a transformer of 1:1 ratio can be used, but would like to know the requirements for the transformer characteristics - L limitations, etc.

I'm afraid it is not so simple : the period time is 25 uS
i.e. 80uS is 3, 100uS is 4 periods. The transducer usually
works in resonance -- it takes a long time to reach the steady state -- ceramic/crystal transducers have high Q.
