Hi,

I want to know the implications of connecting unbalanced delta load to secondary (Star Winding) of transformer.

Thanks.

An unbalanced delta load. That means no neutral, so there shouldn't be any current in it.

It depends on the primary winding. If it is a delta winding, then your ampere-turns will be OK. If it is a wye winding - the ampere-turns do not agree so well and you get voltage drops.

Is it a Y/Y or a D/Y transformer?

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

Sorry to be a bore. But, if there's a wye secondary, and the load is delta. Where can any neutral current flow?

Egad, belay all that. I've just realised that the load is delta (thanks, Gunnar - and an abashed grin). Doesn't matter if it is earthed or not.

Let me try. There is a neutral point at the transformer wye winding, none at the delta load, and no neutral current involved with this load.
