Hi all, anyone here have a general concept or better understanding than I of how to read Metal Building Plans? I have plans for a 50' x 60' metal building but don't understand where to locate where the building connects to the foundation and that sort of thing? I can upload the file if anyone has experience with them.

Thank you all!

Your building could be 50' span with three bays of 20' each. The drawings likely show the reactions at the ends of the metal building frame... maybe many values for the different load conditions. You need to find a local engineer that is familiar with your soils to provide a foundation to support the metal building frames.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

There should be a page that shows all of the base plates. That will show what you need. If you do not have that, you are looking at a set of preliminary dwgs from the re-seller. Those are useless for the foundation design.

They often don’t use the centerline of their main columns for locating dimensions. They dimension off the “Building Line” which is, in effect, the girt line. I suppose this is because the columns are usually tapered.
