Hi!
I try to understand one point from a UOP specification about FIRED HEATERS. We have a project for supplying 2 connected Fired Heaters (Fired Heater No.1 radiation box at the top will have a duct which will be connected to the duct of the Fired Heater No.2 but this connection is below of before entering to CONVECTION SECTION, after passing CONVECTION SECTION FROM Fired Heater No.2, the flue gas will go to the stack of Fired Heater No.2)
The problem that I have is to understand the following text from UOP specification:
Burners shall be sized for higher of
When flue gas is imported beneath the convection section, the heat release requirement
shall be calculated using imported flue gas quantity and temperature based on the source
heater [of the imported flue gas] at minimum normal duty. Unless otherwise explicitly
specified in the UOP Project Specification, assume that the minimum normal duty of the
source heater is 50% of its design duty.
I understand that first I should calculate flue gas temperature at 50% of heat for Fired Heater No.1 and then, with that temperature that I have, I will calculate the efficiency for Fired Heater No.2 and then calculate the required heat realease for sizing burners for Fired Heater No.2...
What do you think?
Thanks!
