Hi,

I am a beginner here, please please help me out.

I have an assembly file - *.iam
So I opened it by Autodesk Inventor.
When I measure the distance using tool-distance, it shows me as inches.
If I export it as iges or step, then it is also in inches.

But I'd like to see it as mm.
How can I convert the unit?

Thank you in advance!

Multiplying by 25.4 seems to work sometimes.

You are in the AutoCAD forum,
Look for a units feature in your tool bar. I think Inventor has one
B.E.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.

I remember when I used ACAD 2000 that I could switch back and forth between 2000 ACAD and Mechanical Desktop which I think was a forerunner of Inventor. Up to ACAD 2005 which is the last version that I used, you could change the units in the Dimension Style Manager dialog box where the folder labeled Primary Units has a scale factor box in which you put 25.4; in the Alternate Units folder you could have the dimensions shown in both English and Metric units. I don't known if Inventor has the same structure that I am use to as I have not kept up with the ACAD advancements.

Forget any response here that relates to AutoCAD.
To change your units in Inventor go to Tools>Document Settings>Units
or
when using the Measure tool click the drop down and select Dual Units and set mm as your secondary units.
