In Mechanical Desktop, it has command untrim surface. It changes the trim surface back to it basic surface. The basic surface of the trim surface usually has rectangle border. Does Catia have the equivalent function to do it.

In CATIA V5 when you trim a surface, you get the trimmed surface but the original surface is not removed. It's still there, although probably in hide mode. You can access the original surface in the tree, or you can show it.

So, to answer your question: a untrim command is not necessary in CATIA V5.

Hi,

In GSD you will find behind the Join... the Untrim fuction. It works.

Thanks Jackk, since I import the iges file into catia, the surfaces was drawn by other software. If I draw it and use split function to trim it I can untrim. But not from the iges file.
Thanks itsmyjob(Mechanical) I am new to Catia(2 weeks). I don't know about GSD.

The reason that you cannot un-trim an IGES surface is that the information isn't there. Your source system only output the resultant surface. You can Extrapolate the surfaces thru GSD, but there is no guarantee that it even remotely resembles the original, untrimmed surfaces.
