Hi all,

I have a question that I would like to ask.

There was an internet web-site which says ( I do not remember the name of web-site );

" We do not add sprinkler between Concrete ceiling and Suspended ceiling if the distance between them is smallar then 80cm. "

Picture is attached to see the situation.

Is it true?

Based on what rule in NFPA they wrote that?

Thank you.

Best Regards.

One would be in the combustible concealed space rules

What edition do you want it out of?

see this thread as far as concern NFPA 13 and specifically about concealed spaces in chapter 9.3, ed. 2019.

For a reference to clearances about concealed spaces you may want to check EN 12845 or more specific insurance standards like VdS CEA 4001. There may be others too.

Hi guys,

I guess I have found the explanation in VdS CEA 4001 ;

5.4 Protection of concealed spaces

If the height of the concealed space at roof and floor exceeds 0,8m, measured between the underside of the roof and the top of the suspended ceiling or between the floor and the underside of the raised floor, these spaces shall be sprinkler protected.

Thank you so much for helping me to solve it.
