Has anyone seen a case where a user can't delete components from assemblies.
On using right click and delete in the assembly navigator, NX simply responds "component deselected" and the part remains.

The user owns the assembly, and I repeated the problem by creating a very simple test assembly on his machine.

Using NX7.5 and TC 8.3.

Thanks in advance, Carl

You need to delete the component array before the components are deleted.
Let us know if you need help with that.

Sometimes what I do with the component array is change the total number to 1 (in the array parameters), delete the array, then delete the one remaining component.

The OP said nothing about it being a component array, but that is a valid point. The array does have to be eliminated before the component can be removed.

The same problem exists of the components are in a reference set. In older versions (pre-NX) you could delete the components but end up with database errors because the reference set would not update to reflect the component deletion.

Hello, thank you for the information, but no it's not a component array - I built a brand new assembly on the user's machine with only 2 (new) components, to test it. Same result.
Its almost as if "delete" is acting as deselect instead.

I'll send it to GTAC this morning see if they can help, cheers Carl

There is a chance that your Selection Filter is set in such a way that would make Components not selctable.
Also make sure that you are actually in the Assemblies application, and not just in Modeling.

Thanks Jerry, Siemens think it may be local to the user as well, so I've asked the user to do some elimination tests. I did check that assemblies was on, but I didn't look at selection filters which could be worth a try as well.

That sounds very promising thank you, I've sent this info to the user as well.

Will see what he comes back with.

Thank you, Carl
