Good morning. I am a student working for a company that develops automotive electronic components.
I have a question.
It is said that using a cobalt steel sheet instead of a silicon steel sheet as an electrical steel sheet material can achieve higher motor efficiency.
Can you give me some information on why? I wonder why the efficiency goes up.
Thank you in advance :)

Instead of thinking about efficiency increasing, it might help to think about losses decreasing.

Then the questions become: what losses occur due to the laminations? and how is this different between different steels?

"Core losses" are the sum of "hysteresis losses" and "eddy current losses" in the metal. It is a well-studied area; I'd recommend searching the literature for experimental comparisons of these losses between the different materials.
