I work at a paper mill and we use a Projet B.V. power cleaning system to clean our felts. The machine we are using is supposed to run on very clean water, but at this mill we use primarily recycled water which has a lot of contaminants. This causes a number of issues. The nozzles on the pressure washers get clogged and need to be cleaned frequently, the filter clogs all the time, and generally the machine has trouble running for even 12 hours straight. It is not possible to change the water supply. Do you have any ideas that would help this machine run continuously with less maintenance?

Filter the water. You need to identify what level of contamination (particle size) the machine will tolerate and select a filter rating that can meet the particle size requirement.

Next you'll need to determine your flow requirement and approximate the quantity of particles in the fluid. This will allow you to select the size of the filter to give a reasonable time between service.

If you find that the time between service is too low or the filter is too large, you may have to considered pre-filtering as well. These would include self-cleaning options such as edge type strainers or cyclone separators.

I was going to suggest cyclone filtration or automatic back wash filters as well.

But you will need to know what the containers are - grit/ dirt or chemicals?

How clean is "very clean" in terms of microns of dirt in the water.

Then you can actually specify something that is going to work.

Remember - More details = better answers
