Using Catia V5R19;

Is it possible to use a rectangular pattern formula from one part to drive a rectangular pattern in another part, which the two parts will be mated together?

Any response will be greatly appreciated!

not sure what you mean by "formula",

but you can copy & paste stuff between parts, to make sure everything mates together.

Maybe copy the sketch containing the centerpoints of holes/pins. Or copy the body containing just the pins, and then remove the copied body from the second part to create the holes.

Make sure you use Paste Special, As Result With Link. Then if you do modify the parent feature, the pasted feature will match.

TS,
If both parts are in an assembly you can create a formula in Assembly design mode using the FX button.

1)Enter ASD
2)pick FX
3)scroll the tree and select pattern or single select the pattern, right click - center graph to find. by selecting just the pattern you will see only those options to pick from.
4)double pick NumberinDir1, Spacing1,....
The formula editor box will appear follow step 3 again.
5)double pick in the Members of All area what you would like to tie together.
6)Pick OK

Derek, I tried ASD at the command prompt & I get a syntax error. I don’t think I have that; I’m limited in the available licenses. You can’t choose the pattern information from one part & call it up in the other part? Example take the Pattern of Part1 “PartBody\RectPattern.1\NumberInDir1” & insert it in the pattern field for part2?

I abbreviated ASD, you need to enter Assembly design mode from the menu or double picking on a product.

Linking the 2 parts in a product using the FX button should be in your license.
