Can you help me to find information releated with control scheme for variable speed pump.
We are desiging a water pump injection system and we need information about this issue.
Pressure of system is 2400 psig with 4 pumps of 20 KBWPD each.

Have you done a google search already?

I am not an expert on this matter, but I would say first of all that with a VSD pump there is obviously no control valve. Depending what parameter you want to control, like level, flow or pressure, I would imagine that you have a measuring sensor, like a flowmeter, level meter, that goes to the pump driver to manipulate the driver speed.

thousand barrels of water per day??

Nowadays my learned electrical friends say that a VSD is actually a variable voltage, variable frequency drive.

Is this homework?

There is no information at all on what you are trying to do. Injecting into the ground, injecting water in to a process, are you trying to maintain a constant flow, or a variable flow, or a constant pressure? what type of pump is it?

But you need a measured variable and then you modify the pump speed. You may need to start or stop pumps depending on the system and pump parameters.

Hi,

For info. there is a section untitled:"control scheme for VSD pumps" in the september 2009 issue of Hydrocarbon Processing magazine: "Applying pumps with variable speed drivers".
