Can anyone share a real time picture of baffle arrangements for a vertical heat exchangers. How is bottom most held in its place by using strips on baffle plates and strip type support plates?
There are usually two methods of support of the baffles.
One - using tie rods and spacer tubes
Two - using runner bars/ sealing strips call them whatever you like (well not exactly). They could be flat or round.
Both would work well. What you need to observe is the count of points of support which you can find in TEMA.
The bigger the baffle diameter - the more points of support it needs.
The baffles in the sample which I have attached are taking support from the bottom tubesheet through tie rods & spacer tubes.
Hope I have interpreted your question correctly.
In my experience, no difference horizontal or vertical, cross baffles held by tie rods and spacers to the tubesheet. Seal strips, skid bars, etc as needed.

Mike
The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
